This morning I crawled out of my bunk at about 8:30 Eastern time in order to
do a phone interview via cell phone with a talk radio station in Elmira New
York (Yes....... ELMIRA) Anyhow it was The Ron Antis show. We had actually
talked several weeks earlier about my book, however he wanted to talk to me on
this morning about D-Day on this 59th anniversary of the Day of ALL DAYS. There
were two old Veterans in his studio as well and we really shared a Blessed
time.
As we spoke about my Dad on the show, a former 101st Airborne man by the
name of Bonk started to cry. So did I.
We finished up as the bus pulled into Greensburg PA. I crawled back in my
bunk to rip off a few more hours snooze time before the EARLY matinee and all I
could think of was those guys 59 years ago and the price they paid....... every
one of them.
There was no crawling back in the bunk for any of them on that day.
I saw NOTHING in the paper about it this morning.
I guess 59th anniversary doesn't ring much of a bell. Next year the 60th will
no doubt be celebrated big time. Like Mellencamp says.... "Ain't That
America?"
Yes it is...... the greatest Country in history.
But please, take a moment today and remember that day, that time, that
moment. FIFTY-NINE years ago!
God Bless America,
Joseph S Bonsall
